I really quite liked this episode

yup, her dad walks into situations like that one CONSTANTLY... it's gotten to the point where Inspector Megure thinks Kogoro is a 'murder magnet'. i think that's what Insp.M called Kogoro once. ;) so if Kogoro CAN'T summon a modicum of 'police instinct' anymore, he really needs to hang up his shingle as a private dick.

Ran's only big error here was mistaking 'constant causation' with 'proximal causation'. and yes this is an amateur investigator's issue. sure, sick home syndrome could be an issue. but if she'd just done 1 hour's worth of net-searches Ran would have learned that SHS patients get BETTER while they're at work, on vacations, or just walking outside daily/working out/getting exercise. MOST SHS cases happen due to the chemicals yes, but sometimes SHS is actually caused by mold spores, allergens/dust/pollen/rodents, and other concerns that happen in homes that AREN'T brand new! that wife was getting sick because of a 'proximal causation'... ONLY getting the symptoms while she was OUT of the house. her CAR was the OBVIOUS vector for her symptoms! because she spent more time in the car driving than she did previously. her going to that new school to work EXACTLY coincided with symptoms above and beyond them moving into the new house.

also, she's a damn INGENIOUS home-maker! she's a miracle worker. :> that house is a MONTH OLD!? and she's got it looking like they've lived there for YEARS!? ;) somebody on the anime staff really screwed that point in the plotline up!

Yeah I agree, it was kinda obvious the house wasn't causing it. But Ran still did pretty good for not having much experience as a detective (aside from the hundreds of cases she's witnesses at this point..)

This one was on the sad-case side. Sometimes they give me goosebumps because of how good the writing and how dumb the motive is. This one didn’t give me goosebumps I guess it is because he didn't pass “The point of no return“ thats when regret isn’t enough and they have already committed the crime.
But his motives were one of the dumbest. I mean he had a loving wife. Making her drive hours a day to get to work and she happily prepares you food while you spray poison chlorine in the air conditioning is just mad.

It's interesting to see how strict Kogoro is in this episode, like at 15:00. Maybe the thing making her sick is in her car, like whenever she drives, that's why he wanted her to go to a school/work (I can't remember which is was) that is so far away. 17:55-18:04, Conan is so cute! Oh, I was right. But that's also really sad, I feel bad for Chie. It was good she was able to move on quickly though.

Ran solving a case is something than her usually not doing anything or using her karate most of the time

Chie-san was so loving, gorgeous and radiant always positive and seemed very happy to have the one she loves by her side but then he had to ruin it all for..... a sports car? That's extremely deranged.
Now she'll have trust issues for the rest of her life and is probably scarred for life.
Men..... I'm not surprised.
